This is a one-day meeting, held in the Geography Department at Cambridge University, on detecting change in high latitude ecosystems. This event showcased recent advances in monitoring vegetation change and highlighted new technologies and data analysis tools to detect environmental change. We have been specifically looking for research into integrating field and plot sampling data, UAV data and remote sensing. The workshop welcomed participants from the research community in all aspects of high-latitude ecosystems including climate responses, environmental changes including anthropogenic factors, modelling, remote sensing, use of UAVs and big data. This has been an open science event, supported by the Global Britain Fund of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and connected to a UK-Russian research project detecting forest change in northern Russia.
