  Originally, ISIF-2014 was planned to be held in Novosibirsk with the venue located in Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science (RAS). Due to the reorganization procedure of RAS, the members of ISIF organizing committee suggested to move the venue of this largest event years to Tomsk, namely to hold it in Tomsk Poly- technic University. We accepted this offer with great enthusiasm. It is a great honor for us to open the symposium for the leading scientists from different countries, to create friendly environment for exchange in latest discoveries and investigations. We will do our best to hold the declared format of the event: the search of new ways for international collaboration of Russian and World F-chemists, the discussions on new ideas, prospects and general trends of the development in inorganic fluorine chemistry in the world, and the globalization of the results on pure and applied researches in the field of in- organic fluorine chemistry and technology. Together with the colleagues we have to find the answers to the challenges to the Russian system of education and science, since the tasks of globalization and improvement of the competi- tiveness of science groups are becoming more and more important with every year. It is no coincidence that ISIF broadens the geographical limits. The call for abstracts was accepted by more than 100 scientists from Germany, USA, Poland, France, South Africa, Nigeria, Singapore, China, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The most activity was shown by the scientists working in the follow- ing research areas: * New pathways for the synthesis of inorganic fluorides, including nano-objects. Surface functionalization of materials by fluorination. * Structural, physical and analytical chemistry of inorganic fluorides, including coordination compounds. * Inorganic fluorides in industrial production, chemical energetics and sustainable development. The future of inorganic fluorides.
