Nationality / citizenship is the political affiliation of the individual to the State. National regulation in Russia: it is a sovereign State only that is authorized by law to determine who are the nationals, recognizing them as subjects of law, with all constitutional rights and freedoms. “Sports nationality” is an opportunity to participate in competitions organized by (or under the aegis of) IFs and NSF, as well as the athletes’ right to represent national team at international official championships/competitions. Is there any need in concurrence of "constitutional" and “sports” nationality? Some international standards say “yes”. Many says - “no”, "constitutional" nationality is not an obstacle for granting "sporting nationality". Moreover, for a number of them the current trend - the existence of "constitutional" nationality is not a factor that guarantees the "sporting nationality" at all. Is there any possibility to unify international standards and state legislative approaches?
