Strengthening the cacapacity of NGBs is of strategic importance both in the UK and Russia. These organizations have been entrusted with the governance of sport, management of significant public funds, contribution to governments' wider social and economic agendas, and provision of services to a vast network of clubs, members and mmillions of participants. NGBs also play a multifaceted role in delivering a successful Olympic Games. Futher, public funding provided to NGBs has increasingly been made contingent on delivering certain targets. Therefore, understanding how the host NGBs engage not only with their members and stakeholders, but with the wider society and a range of national and international partners to maximise the unparalleled opportunities provided by the London and Sochi Olympics becomes of great significance.
