The Russian Western Arctic Shelf Basins are prospective for exploration of hydrocarbons as confirmed by the discoveries of the giant and large gas fields like Shtokmanovskoye in the Barents Sea, Rusanovskoye and Leningradskoye in the Kara Sea, gas condensate fields on the Yamal peninsula, oil and gas fields in the Pechora Sea and Yenisey-Khatanga basin. Jurassic is one of the main complexes in the Russian Barents sea where three main fields: Shtokmanovskoe, Ledovoe, Ludlovskoe located. To predict and evaluate the regional distribution of the reservoirs and it’s seals we need to understand the main provenance areas of the sediment transport. The quality of the reservoir depends as on it’s source and on the environmets of the sedimentation. High reservoir potential of bar Callovian silty-sandy rocks in the Shtokmanovskaya well caused by it’s predominantly mono-mineral composition. Seismostratigraphic method is one of the main methods for the Barents Sea evaluation due to the lack of well data in the region. Seismic profiles helped to study and upgrade the tectonic structure and distribution of sedimentary strata in the basin. Recognition of the unconformities and various progradational packages helps to determine the migration routes of sandy material and it’s age. Several intra-formational seismic horizons are highlighted, which obviously correspond to the boundary of intra-formational unconformity and its overlying transgressive clay unit can be marked out as on the seismic lines and on the well logs
