Natural and synthetic polymeric materials (peat, humates, biochar, composts, strongly swelling hydrogels and other soil conditioners) are widely used in order to improve the structure, water-retention, absorptive capacity and actual fertility of constructozems (artificial soil constructions in urbanized ecosystems and agro landscapes). However, their effectiveness is strongly limited by the biodegradation factor in a chemically and biologically active soil environment. The round table discusses this important problem on a quantitative level with the use of original laboratory and field experiments, methods of mathematical modeling and offers effective solutions of the problem, useful for geo-engineers and practitioners in landscaping engaged in the design of sustainable soil constructions.
