Study of kinetics of the singlet and triplet sates population of hydrogen molecule is directly connected with justification of diagnostics of nonequilibrium plasma by method of optical emission spectroscopy. Semi-empirical zero – dimensional model of a hydrogen non-equilibrium low – temperature plasma is developed. This model, along with the processes used in other models, describes the kinetics of population of the singlet and triplet states of hydrogen. This allowed to analyze possibilities of using plasma diagnostics for emission spectra. The limits of applicability of the simplified coronal model for diagnostics of DC, microwave and ECR discharges are determined.
