This present report suggests a novel approach expanding the range of important molecules such as DBT, DMDBT and their oxidized derivatives with absorption peaks in the UV – region becoming available for such an analysis due to trapping them into charge – transfer complexes immobilized onto SERS – active Ag-nanostructures. This approach were used to develop of SERS-based optical biosensor for determination of above mentioned markers of oil quality and were applied successfully for the analysis of real samples of fossil fuel.
