Nowadays in Russia are registered more than 1500 plant protection products base on 200 chemical active substances approximately. Most of these active substances are approved to be used in EU, except prometryn and diazinon, which are still widely used in Russia. The main part of them are herbicides and in particular glyphosate. In addition to registration procedure the public authority organizes federal monitoring of pesticides in environment (in soil and water). The results of this monitoring are published in the annual report. Nowadays the list of pesticides under control contains about 30 a.s. Some of them, for example DDT and aldrin, haven’t been used for a long time. In most cases the main reason to include pesticide on the monitoring list was its hazard, but not a risk. Now the approach to select priority pesticides for monitoring are being changed. An hydrobionts aggregate risk indicator for pesticides (abbreviation is HARIP) taking into account the risks of acute/chronic toxicity and bioaccumulation are supposed. Calculated HARIP indexes are recommended for the selection of priority pesticide pollutants in surface water bodies of the Russian Federation. As a result we have got the list including 24 active substances with the biggest aggregate risk index for hydrobionts. It consists of 19 insecticides, 4 herbicides and 1 fungicide. This approach has been proposed by us to the federal authorities. It can be also applied for the regions of the RF with the different set of the used pesticide.
