Nitride bonded Silicon Carbide is a well-known corrosion resistant material. Many publications are devoted to corrosion resistance of N-SiC to cryolite, that is very important for Aluminium industry, and to oxidation resistance in WTE processes. Although N-SiC refractories are used in shaft furnaces for the melting of cathode Copper, little is known on corrosion resistance of N-SiC to Copper and Copper slag. We do not have information on corrosion testing of SiC materials to Copper. Probably static cup test, that is used in Al industry will provide low level of information because of too slow interactions. Dynamic rod test might be more informative, but rather expensive.
