I focus on philological and linguistic problems of dating "Faereyinga saga". Despite the fact that "Faereyinga saga" is deeply rooted in Old Icelandic written tradition, it has some oral perspective both regarding some of its sources (local scenery, exact topographical information, names of the key figures and their relatives) and its narrative manner. More specifically, I discuss the syntax of deictic particles and clitic pronouns/weak stressed forms and argue that the syntactic system of "Fareyinga saga" patterns with Wackernagel's law and must be analysed as a Germanic-type modified Wackernagel system, with verb-clitic adjacency and verb-second phenomena. Unfortunately, nothing in the clitic syntax itself is specific for a particular Old Nordic dialect, but linguistic considerations add to the philological argument and strengthen the view that the original version "Faereyinga saga" was written in early XIII century and can retain some features of oral syntax.
