The first principles approach, microscopic and quantum models are used to describe the ice proton system, electron energy spectrum of ice and the ice surface layer. The nature and the possible violations of Bernal-Fowler (BF) rules and quantum effects in the proton system are studied in the first part. In the second part the electron energy spectrum both of model square ice and of ordinary hexagonal ice are discussed. The possible models of the ice surface layer are considered in the third part.
