Currently, the formation of new varieties of the English language is taking place in the world, one of them is Indian English. This article is devoted to the research into specific features of Indian English as a special kind of English. Also this article explores the political events that influenced the development of Indian English as a whole. Indeed, today we can say with confidence that this topic is relevant because it has an important place on the political agenda of India, determining the course of development of the country's domestic and foreign policy. Moreover, Indian English plays the role of mediator for communication between the various ethnicities of this country. In addition, it plays an important role in maintaining the position of India as one of the centers of world civilization and culture during many centuries. The practical part of the research is based on the historical method, as well as the results of comparative and system analysis. Consider the Indian English work of the following authors as Abhishek Kashyap "Developments in the linguistic description of Indian English: State of the art", Bakshi, R.N. "Indian English", M.V.Chuprina "Language policy in the Republic of India", E.A. Kurchenkova "English language in India: history and current problems" and others. Considering that each state of India has its own language and language policy, therefore the issue of Indian English is a very important and complex topic in general. In spite of the substantial amount of critical work in this field by various researchers, this issue still requires close attention.
