Fast and dense streams of magnetosheath plasma, so-called jets, can hit the dayside magnetopause. The interaction results in a localized compression of the magnetosphere and sometimes penetration of the magnetosheath plasma inside the magnetosphere. These effects produce intensification of the geomagnetic activity at high-latitudes on dayside with further propagation of the disturbances toward night side. These, so-called substorm-like events can occur even during quite geomagnetic conditions under northward orientation of interplanetary magnetic field. We present examples of substorm-like events under various conditions.
