The indigenous people of the Russian Federation are the peoples living in the territories of the traditional settlement of their ancestors, preserving the traditional way of life, farming, and crafts, numbering less than 50 thousand people and realizing themselves as independent ethnic communities. Indigenous people and communities of the Arctic basin have a long history of self-sufficiency, which has been maintained from generation to generation thanks to traditional forms of management and experience anchored in a cultural way. Their worldview, religious beliefs, customs, lifestyle, and traditions were formed in the process of human struggle for survival in harsh climatic conditions. Maintaining the traditional way of life by transferring the experience of generations ensures the preservation of their values and socio-cultural ties. However, due to globalization and climate change, the Arctic has undergone a transformation at many levels, including social, cultural, environmental, and economical. For the traditional lifestyles of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, these changes bring both challenges and new opportunities. As a result of all these changes, the elements that alienate them from their ancestors have created a danger that indigenous peoples' traditional way of life will eventually disappear.
