Geophysical Observatory of Moscow State University is located in the village of Alexandrovka, Yuhnov district of Kaluga Region. The observatory was built on the territory of the training and research base of the Department of Geophysics, Geological Faculty of Moscow State University in 2011. The base is located far away from electromagnetic interferences. Within a radius of 10km from the base there are no settlements. Nearest electrified railway is situated 70 km away. Observatory building is constructed of non-magnetic materials and has an independent foundation for the building walls and pedestals for the sensors. The equipment pool consists of three MT stations LEMI-417M, magnetovariational (MV) station LEMI-025 (produced by Lviv Centre of Institute of Space Research of National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine), the telluric station NDL+TWG (Institute of Geophysics of Polish Academy of Sciences), two MV-stations QUARTZ-4M (IZMIRAN) and magnetic theodolite. In addition, there are two seismological stations. In observatory maintained continuous recording of magnetic and electric components of magnetotelluric field in a broad frequency range. Seismic activity is also continuously recording. The data are used for the study of the deep structures of the Earth's crust. The observatory is not so far included in the network INTERMAGNET. The main problem is the lack of temperature stabilization of the sensors.
