Earthquake data from two regional catalogs - Northern and Southern California from 1984 to 2007, created by two independent seismological organizations were used. The series of daily sums of earthquakes, formed from the indicated catalogs without selection for any parameter, were analyzed. The purpose of the work is to search for the effects of the coordinated dynamics of seismic activity in seismically active regions adjacent to each other. In the analysis of time series a normalized cross-wavelet spectrum was used. Coherence intervals in the dynamics of seismic activity duration several years with coherence periods from eight months to one and a half years are found. Local zones of seismic activity in Northern and Southern California are identified, in which temporal coherence is observed. In these zones the main shocks with their aftershock sequences are recorded. It is noted that the distance between the coherence zones significantly exceeds the characteristic size of the source zone for the observed main shocks. Thus found arguments in favor of the hypothesis of a connection between seismic processes in fairly remote local zones of Northern and Southern California. It has been suggested that the nature of the coherent dynamics of seismic activity is associated with the features of the tectonic structures of these regions. This work was supported by the state assignment programs of the Institute of Physics of the Earth, Russian Academy of Sciences.
