This study is part of a complex approach to studying the risks of nanoparticles and nanomaterials in urbanized areas (novel ecosystems). Cytotoxicity of hydroxylated fullerene С60(ОН)25 and aluminum nanopowder was studied on simple model systems in vitro and in vivo. The cytotoxic effect of hydroxylated fullerene on a simple cellular model system based on peritoneal mouse macrophages was detected at a final concentration among incubation with macrophages of 0.5 mg/ml at 37оС. The damaging effect on cell membranes increased with increasing incubation time up to 90 minutes. The cytotoxicity of aluminum nanopowder was investigated on a simple in vivo model system based on wheat seeds as a result of seed germination. The biological effect of aluminum powder nanoparticles is manifested at a final concentration of 0.5 mg/ml in the seed soaking medium, affecting the morphological properties of the germinated seed sprouts. There is a significant decrease in the size of the embryonic stem and root. The tested model systems are convenient for studying the direct toxic effect of nanomaterials. As a result of these experiments, we tested simple model systems that are part of a complex approach to studying the risks of using nanoparticles and nanomaterials on novel ecosystems.
