Our work addresses ionospheric radio tomography (RT) based on the low orbital (LO) and high orbital (HO) navigational systems and the radio occultation (quasi tangential) sounding. We present the examples of RT images to illustrate the separate and combined use of LORT and HORT systems. RT methods are capable of imaging different ionospheric structures such as ionization troughs, wavelike disturbances, travelling ionospheric structures (TID), blobs, patches, bubbles, tongues of ionization (TOI) and many others. We analyze the possibilities of a combined RT system, present the results of numerical simulations and estimate the resolution of RT systems with different number of receivers. The prospects of RT combination with UV and radio sounding techniques are discussed.
