The propagation of UV-C radiation in the atmosphere has big practical and scientific interest. This is related to the fact that due to the ozone layer, solar UV radiation is almost completely blocked that creates a very low level of background noise. In this regard, many proposals have appeared on the use of UV-C radiation for remote monitoring of high-voltage equipment, navigation of aircraft, information transmission, remote detection of fires, research of the upper atmosphere and ionosphere etc. The purpose of the article is to present the methodology and results of the experiment to study the absorption of UV-C radiation over the sea surface. The direct measurements on marine drive routes were carried out and the determination of typical attenuation coefficients (extinction) are received. The results of the experiment demonstrated the possibility of the proposed method to effectively determine the extinction of the atmosphere over the sea area.
