Modern regenerative medicine has a great need in resorbable bioactive composite materials for bone implants. Biodegradable polymers, e.g. polylactide (PLA), filled with resorbable calcium phosphate (with the ratio Ca/P ≤ 1.5, e.g. tricalcium phosphate) are good candidates. Specific macroporous architecture for osteoconductivity enhancing can be achieved by 3Dprinting process. In the case of 3D thermal extrusion technique it is necessary to produce composite filament (PLA/TCP) with uniform distribution of the phosphate particles inside PLA prior to printing and to develop printing regimes1. Another thrust of problem is structured around hydrophobicity and proteins adsorption of the vast majority of the polymers and, therefore, the need in modification of their surface. The aim of this work is to create bioactive macroporous composites based on calcium phosphate and biopolymers, of predetermined complex shape and enhanced adsorption for bone regeneration. The tasks of the work include (i) 3D-printing of macroporous β-TCP/poly(D,L-lactide) for bone implantation, (ii) modification of the composite surface, and (iii) albumin protein adsorption test.
