Benefits of usage of supercritical carbon dioxide as a promising solvent for processing (synthesis, modification, forming, etc.) of advanced materials for electrochemical applications are to be discussed. Among others factors, one can mention here (electro)chemical inertness of carbon dioxide, easiness of its complete removal (by means of simple decompression) from the martials to be obtained after processing is finished, ability to dissolve many organic compounds (including metalorganic precursors) and some polymers. Supercritical carbon dioxide is an environmentally friendly “green” solvent, which is not expensive, can be easily purified and recycled. Formation of improved membranes as well as new functional materials for electrodes of modern electrochemical power sources as well as their performance will be outlined.
