The synoptic mechanisms of the largest in the modern history of Primorsky Krai rain floods on rivers in autumn 2016, and the role of Typhoon "Lionrock" in the intensification of monsoon rains were considered. It was found out that the main cause of the destructive flood was the aggravation of cyclonic activity on the polar front in the Sikhote-Alin mountains and was not directly related to the “Lionrock” typhoon. It was shown that during the maximum rains the typhoon remained in the Tokyo area and represented an independent baric formation. Only at the end of the rainy season the typhoon barically merged with the cyclone on the polar front and promoted the regeneration of the latter.
