Описание:The course of "Physics and biophysics. Biophysics" is one of the basic courses for bachelor's students specializing in "Biology". The course deals with the theoretical basis of modern biology, based on the concepts of physical and chemical biology, bioinformatics and mathematical and computer modeling of biological processes. The course consists of three parts.
The first part outlines the physicochemical concepts underlying the kinetics and thermodynamics of biological systems. The physical features, dynamic and electronic properties of the structural unit of the living - macromolecules are considered. The physicochemical mechanisms of energy transformation in biostructures and the protein-machine concept are discussed.
The second part of the course is devoted to mathematical modeling of biological processes. The classification and features of modeling living systems, the basics of the mathematical apparatus used to build dynamic models in biology, the basic models of biochemical reactions, population growth and interaction of species, models of multi-stable systems, oscillatory and quasi-stochastic processes, models of microbiological processes, models of the spread of epidemics are considered. A number of lectures are devoted to models describing the spatio-temporal behavior of systems of the reaction-diffusion type, models of nerve impulse propagation, autowave biochemical reactions, autowave activity of the heart, coloring of animal skins.
The third part of the course presents current research topics in modern biology, which can be offered to students as topics for bachelor's theses.
