Аннотация:Surfactants are basic components of cosmetis washing remedies. The most common of these substances, which is present in most shampoos and toothpastes, is sodium dodecyl sulfate, or sodium lauryl sulfate. Lysozyme, which is a bacteriolytic enzyme, is an extremely important part of human immune system. In this research, interaction between sodium dodecyl sulfate and lysozyme is studied. It is discovered that catalytic activity of lysozyme is inhibited by half in presence of 0,29 mM sodium dodecyl sulfate at pH 8,5 or 0,24 mM at pH 7. These values are more than 100 times lower than the permitted concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate in cosmetics. These results mean that shampoos and toothpastes containing sodium dodecyl sulfate are unsafe for human immune system.
