Method includes feeding a cationic surfactant into at least part of the surface of a membrane and inner part of a membrane by incubating the membrane in an aqueous or aqueous salt solution containing a cationic surfactant or a mixture of cationic surfactants. A vanadium redox battery (versions) is also disclosed.
