Аннотация:Intercalation of sulfuric acid into graphite in the presence of oxidizing gases (Cl-2, O-3, SO3) was studied by x-ray difraction and potentiometry. In the case of nonintercalating oxidizers (Cl-2, O-3), we observe well-defined correlation between the redox potential of oxidizing solutions and the phase composition of reaction products. When SO3 is used as an oxidizer, the potential of graphite intercalation compounds and the composition of macrocations are weak functions of intercalation stage. These results are accounted for by cointercalation of SO3 and H2SO4 into graphite. The use of oxidizing gases in preparing graphite intercalation compounds and cellular graphite is expected to be a promising route to developing nonwaste technology.
