Аннотация:The interdisciplinary course on magnetism has been created and delivered in
Moscow State University in 2014. Learning objective of this course is to acquaint
graduate, undergraduate and PhD students, which are not specialized in physics, with
the basic concepts and modern problems of physics of magnetic phenomena. The
course consists on 16 lectures, in which the basic concepts in physics of magnetism and
magnetic materials as a well as their applications in techniques, magnetic data storage,
spintronics, optoelectronics, biology, medicine, geophysics, astronomy are presented in
a very concentrated form. Special attention is paid to the discussion of the basic
concepts of nanomagnetism and usage of magnetic nanoparticles in biology and
medicine. In particularly, the mechanisms, advantages and disadvantages of magnetic
drug delivery, magnetic separation, magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic
hypothermia, magnetic biosensors, magnetic field detection of brain activity are
discussed.
The course will be useful and interesting for a wide audience interested in
modern scientific problems and their practical applications.
