Аннотация:Based on the results of a study of the magnetic properties of basalt samples dredged from the Red Sea rift zone at a latitude of 18° N, and of geomagnetic field paleointensity determination by Thellier–Coe method, it was concluded that the studied basalts are related to three different stages of crust formation in this region. It is determined that the geomagnetic field paleointensity at the time of formation of the studied basalts samples was 1.1–1.9 times higher than current geomagnetic field intensity in this region. Obtained results indicate that the geomagnetic field intensity in this region have been decreasing in the last 100 thousand years.
