Аннотация:The characteristics of the main components of the neutral background (gamma rays and neutrons) were measured onboard the Mir orbital station in the course of an experiment with the "GRIF-1" instrumentation. The fluxes of gamma rays with energies in the range 0.05-50 MeV and neutrons with an energy of >30 MeV were recorded by a scintillation spectrometer (effective areas similar to 250 and similar to 30 cm(2) for gamma rays and neutrons, respectively). As a result of analyzing the data taken for similar to 600 h of observation, we have isolated the background components caused by the inherent radiation of the station and by the albedo radiation of the Earth's atmosphere. A mathematical model has been constructed that represents latitude and energy dependences of gamma rays of the atmospheric albedo and of gamma rays generated in the station material due to interactions of galactic cosmic rays. An analytical approximation is given for the energy spectrum of induced gamma-ray emission of radioactive nuclides accumulated in the matter of the station and the instrument. An analytical representation of the latitude dependence of the integral flux of neutrons with energies > 30 MeV is also given.
