Аннотация:Boric acid is found to inhibit hydrolysis of deprotonated 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid p-nitrophenyl ester, which occurs via the intramolecular mechanism of base catalysis, and virtually does not affect the hydrolysis of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid p-nitrophenyl ester. This phenomenon contradicts the borate-catalyzed hydrolysis of salicylic acid esters observed earlier and simulates borate inhibition of serine proteases.
