Аннотация:The article examines the possibility of accumulation of solar energy without an increase in temperature. Various reversible photochemical reactions and working substances capable of converting themselves to another substance that possesses enthalpy, without an increase in temperature, are considered. A number of processes are considered promising, in particular valence isomerization of norbornadiene derivatives (or norbornadiene itself) in quadricyclane. Compounds of type B are stable when heated to 140 degree C; at this temperature the decomposition half-life is 14 hr. The catalyzers of the transformation of B to A are organic plane-square complexes of rhodium, palladium, and platinum; the conversion-life is 45 min at minus 26 degree C. Another extremely interesting system is provided by cyclopentadiene/dihomocubane. For this system both the forward and the reverse processes take place quantitatively without a sensitizer. In terms of valence isomerization, there are some promising cis-trans isomerizations and reactions of formation of tetrahomotetrahedral structures oxaaziridines.
