Аннотация:A novel cerium palladium aluminide CePd4.6Al8.4 was prepared by arc-melting and studied by means of
synchrotron powder diffraction, magnetic and electrical resistivity measurements. The compound is
isotypic with BaPd4.5Al8.5 (space group I4/mcm, lattice parameters: a = 8.6150(5) Å, c = 12.4087(8) Å,
Z = 4), which is a site-exchange variant of the CeNi9Si4 type. CePd4.6Al8.4 is a Curie-Weiss paramagnet due to fairly stable magnetic moments of Ce3þ ions. No long-range magnetic order was found down to 1.72 K. The compound exhibits metallic conductivity describable in terms of two-parallel-resistors model.
