Аннотация:The paper presents the estimationsof the meridional heat and mass transport computed with the using of the coupled ocean-atmosphere numerical model developed in Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and with the application of the original data assimilation technique. As the observed information the CTD sections of the temperature and salinity across Atlantic in 1991-1995 during the international experiment WOCE were used. The main attention of the heat and mass transport has been paid in upper ocean layers. The paper shows how the data assimilation technique changes the pure model characteristics including the ocean current velocities and temperature fields at different levels. As the data assimilation method the generalized Kalman filter (GKF) has been applied which coincides with the standard Kalman filter scheme (EnKF) in partial case.
