Аннотация:Protochlorophyllide-binding polypeptides were isolated from the plastid membranes of etiolated maize leaves (Zea mays L.) by anion-exchange HPLC. The photoenzyme NADPH: protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (Pchlide reductase), identified by its absorption spectrum and the molecular weight of 37 kD, was found to be predominant among these polypeptides. Along with NADPH, pigment-binding polypeptides with mol wts of 15 and 65 kD were isolated. The possible role of these polypeptides in the maintenance of the photoinactive protochlorophillide fraction and in light-mediated pheophytin biosynthesis is discussed.
