Аннотация: In a system of N quantum harmonic oscillators interacting through the
cavity mode, the effect of radiation trapping is proved to be present.
When a small fraction of the oscillators is initially excited, the
excitation remains localized on the prepared oscillators. Weak
anharmonicity results in additional slow oscillations of the mean
population numbers of the initially excited oscillators with amplitudes
of order N-1. An application to a Dehmelt cyclotron micromaser is
briefly discussed.
