Аннотация:A highly transparent ceramics based on erbium oxide was successfully obtained using a sintering additive of
lanthanum oxide. The microstructure and phase composition of the initial powders and the obtained ceramics, as
well as the sinterability of the powder compacts depending on the content of the sintering additive, were studied.
5% La:Er2O3 ceramics showed the best combination of characteristics among the studied samples. In particular, it
has 81.3% linear transmission at a wavelength of 1.8 μm for 1 mm thickness, a microhardness of 8.6 GPa, an
elastic modulus of 190 GPa, a crack resistance of 0.98 MPa m0.5, and a thermal conductivity of 6 W/m⋅K at 298 K.
