Аннотация:Classical Störmer theory is generalized to the case of an axisymmetric superposition ofdipole and quadrupole fields. The basic laws of the charged particle motion in certain azimuthallysymmetric magnetic configurations are investigated. The allowed and forbidden regions of particle motion, and also the capture regions, which ensure the stable existence of radiation belts, are identified.
