Аннотация:The research is devoted to visual search task, namely, finding and identifying words in meaningless context. We modeled the situation of the Boggle game: 46 subjects had to identify words in seemingly random chart of letters. Ten words were implanted into each of six letter matrixes (15x15), presented to the Ss. 80 percent of the words were arranged horizontally, 20 - vertically. The words were selected and arranged according to their frequency (high-low) and emotional valence (either positive, negative or neutral). We analyzed performance characteristics and eye movement data: fixation count, fixation duration, mean saccadic velocity and amplitude, fixation duration and dwell time in AOIs. The results indicate that search efficiency and search performance is influenced by spatial position, frequency and emotional valence of the stimuli. However, no interaction of these factors was found. The obtained data let us develop a visual search model and elicit several visual search strategies.
