Аннотация:In the article, the authors have compared three ways of gas marine transportation: marine pipeline, liquefied natural gas, and compressed natural gas. Based on the comparative analysis of the economic efficiency, one can conclude that compressed natural gas marine transportation allows diversification of products and services, and reduction of costs for gas transportation to the consumers. Compared to the liquefied natural gas transportation, the compressed natural gas transportation efficiency is achieved due to lower cost of onshore facilities and low gas losses during transportation. However, compressed natural gas transportation has more advantages over liquid one only up to 4000 km distances. Although marine pipelines are characterized by smaller carbon footprint, they have limitations in length and depth, when compared to compressed natural gas transportation option. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the compressed natural gas technology is the most environmentally friendly way to transport gas in volumes of 3 and 5 bln m3/yr for a distance of 400 to 2500 km, in comparison to marine pipelines and liquefied natural gas transportation.
