Аннотация:The excitation of progressive-standing Faraday waves was investigated. The waves were observed on the free surface of water in cylindrical vessels, the bases of which were wedge-shaped. The wave motions of the fluid were detected by video recording in the system of counting associated with the oscillating vessel. The water depth in all vessels h = 3.6 cm, and the wavelength was 30 cm. The simplest calculation showed that if the crest of a progressive wave of a constant height would move along the plotted line in the vessel with a rectangular base, its velocity would be 59.4 cm/s. It was assumed that the part of the wave in the vessel region under consideration possesses the properties of a progressive wave. The closed trajectories of tracer particles of the elliptic type were seen to the left of the considered antinode. The progressive-standing Faraday wave with period T = 0.524 s was excited in the vessel.
