Аннотация:Research was conducted on data of 91 disabled participants (Russian veterans of Afganistan war) involved in readaptation program in MSU (department of extreme psychology and psychological help) since 1989. Method: the content-analisys of unfinished sentences (JOSEPH NUTTIN MIM modified by M. Magomed-Eminov).
Our research confirmed the hypothesis, that motivation is the dynamic system and there are three basic motivational tendencies updated in the extreme situation: the motivation of refusal, the motivation of self-preservation, the motivation of growth. Our data show two levels of the motivation of self-preservation – keeping integrity of an organism and keeping of personal meanings and values, courage and resilience.
The motivation of refusal leads disappointment, feeling of impossibility of changes, lack of meaning of life, distrust others, fear of death and illnesses, aggressive tendencies, giving up memories or fixedness on the past.
The motivation of growth leads an orientation on future, on positive sides of life, assertion of attitudes, values and aims, care for others, realization of creative potential.
There is motivation of growth, which can occur in extreme situation with the motivation of self-preservation. Moreover there are secondary motivational tendencies, that can occur with the leading motivational tendency. So we can make a conclusion about complexity and versatility of human motivational structure.
