Аннотация:The effect of carbon dioxide admixture on electrocatalytic activity in the hydrogen oxidation reaction is studied. It is shown that Pd/C and PdRu/C catalysts are characterized by the highest tolerance, as in these cases the effect of CО2 is due to the change of hydrogen partial pressure in the mixture. Thus, in the case of low admixture carbon dioxide content, its effect on the hydrogen oxidation rate is negligible. The pattern is completely different in the case of Pt/C catalyst, as in this case the electrode activity in the presence of carbon dioxide decreases by more than an order of magnitude. This is due not only to the decrease of hydrogen partial pressure, but also to the chemosorption of CО2 molecules on the catalyst surface and blocking of the active centers.
