The crystals of NdxY1-xAl3(BO3)4, or NYAB (x = 0.05, 0.1, 0.6, 0.65, 0.7 and 0.75), GdxY1-xAl3(BO3)4, or GYAB (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.65, 0.7 and 0.75) and NdxGd1-xAl3(BO3)4, or NGAB (x = 0.2) were grown by both the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) and spontaneous nucleation using a K2Mo3O10 based flux. The crystals YAl3(BO3)4 doped with Pr, Ho , Er , Yb, Tm, Lu have also been obtained. Nd doped crystals RECa4O(BO3)3 (RE=Gd or Y) have been grown using near stoichiometric initial chemicals RE2O3, CaCO3 and B2O3. Single crystals of chromium-doped yttrium oxyorthosilicate (YSO) were grown from melts by Czochralski technique. The crystals of YSO, yttrium pyrosilicate and stillwellite-like lanthanum borosilicate were obtained from high-temperature solution.
