Our analysis shows that winter red-channel Sentinel 2 MSI reflectance has the highest correlation with stem volume for our test forest sites in Kola Peninsula. The relationship of field LAI estimates and Sentinel-2 MSI LAI is best described with an exponential function.Field LAI estimates have higher correlation with the stem volume than Sentinel-2 MSI LAI. This may be due to the fact that stems and branches are observed better from the ground level. Finally, the stem volume does not correlate well with summer NDVI and LAI derived from satellite images.
